Town boss Roy Keane has made it known in recent times he would like to add a striker to his squad, who so far this season have had problems with converting created chances into goal and John is the player tasked with doing just that.

John entered English football playing for Nottingham Forest in 1999, where he managed 17 goals in 79 games, before moves to Birmingham (21 goals in 85 games) Coventry CIty (12 from 39) Derby County and Coventry City (17 from 49).

The 33 year old striker worked with current Town boss Roy Keane during his time at Sunderland where he managed to scored five times in sixteen games after which he moved on to Southampton, scoring 20 times in 52 games for George Burley's former club.

More recently, John has found it somewhat harder to hit the target, after signing for Bristol City during the 2008/9 season, John managed to find the net just twice times in 26 games whilst so far this season John hasn't found the target in 7 games for current club Crystal Palace.
