West Ham are still believed to be considering whether to give Thatcher a deal, although any deal would involve him being a back up for the Hammers back four.
It is clear Jim needs to strengthen his left hand side, and after already failing to land three previous targets Jim is desperate for a left sided player.
Speaking to the club website Jim said: We offered Ben a deal and we are hoping for an answer today or tomorrow.
"He is weighing up options and it's his right to explore the other possibilities he has.
"If it doesn't happen then we move on, but he is a player that I feel could be a useful addition to the squad."
