The 25 year old Trinidad and Tobago international was recentley linked to a move with Town's fellow first division side Preston North End, however the two clubs could not agree terms so the move was cancelled.

With Town short on cash and certainly having no money to pay a fee, Edwards was realistically never going to join the club, but even if money was avaliable, Town boss Joe Royle says no move would have happened, because he feels the club already have adequate cover on the left side of their team.

"We know the player and we've been aware of him for some time but there is no priority in that area of the team." commented Royle.

"We have Chris Makin looking good for a comeback, which will be like signing a new player, and we also have Matt Richards who can do a good job in that area going forward."
