Speaking of his delight of the signing, Town boss Jim Magilton told the Official Club Website: "Alex has a winning mentality and that, above all else, is what Bryan Klug and myself are looking at bringing to this Club.
"He is determined to play at the highest level and is adamant that he can do it here at Ipswich Town, as I am.
"It's hard enough for any player to be the son of a famous footballer but to have your dad as your manager as well can make it doubly difficult and I think Alex felt it was the right time to move on for the sake of his career and I'm delighted he will be taking that step forward with us."
