Reggie Lambe opened the scoring for Town after just six minutes, bursting through the Coventry City defence and slipping the ball past Sky Blues keeper Michael Quirke to fire Town into a 1-0 lead.
Luke Hyam scored the second for Town on the half hour mark, running from the half way line before unleashing an unexpected 40 yard drive into the top of the net to double Town's lead.
