Vermund, who plays in midfield, has made one reserve team start since his operation but feels he must look to next season before he can show the Town faithful what he is really capable of: "The reserve game was quicker than I thought it would be, certainly quicker than what I have been used to.
"I didn't read the game as quickly as I hoped I would and the ball was moved around the pitch at a fast pace.
"My fitness is getting there but not 100 per cent yet. I had a groin injury for a year and it has taken me longer than I thought to get over the operation.
"My fitness will come though, and I hope to improve my football all the time, but I think it will be next season before I am playing at the highest level," he told the club website.
