The blues boss had given the former Grimsby defender permission to speak to the Hornets, but has admitted that a move now looked unlikely: "Watford haven't pursued their interest in Georges Santos. There was a strong interest and I know his agent has spoken to them.
"I don't think it was anything that Georges asked about, I think that money is tight at the moment; they've looked at their pennies and decided not to take their interest further.
"There have been other enquiries about loans but we don't particularly want Georges to go out on loan. The idea was that if he went it gave him a chance and cleared the wage bill a little bit to allow us to do something either now or in the summer."
