Highly-rated striker Connor Wickham netted twice as Ipswich beat Histon 6-0 in a pre-season friendly. The England Under-17 international, who has been attracting interest from Barclays Premier League sides, grabbed his first in the 32nd minute after being released by Tamas Priskin in the box and then added another just before the break after rounding goalkeeper Joe Welch and tucking the ball home. David Norris had opened the scoring for Town and Gareth McAuley made it three, heading in from close range. In a much-changed second-half line-up, Luciano Civelli - making his second appearance since returning from 16 months out with knee ligament damage - teed up Lee Martin for a fifth before Jon Stead made it six with a terrific spin and left-foot curler.
