Mick McCarthy: "It was a battling display. But to just describe it as a battling performance does us a disservice as I thought that we played really well until we gave away the penalty just before half time.
"After Carl was sent off it we had to battle and I was pleased with how we coped.
"Matt Murray played very well in goal but he was also well protected." Jay Bothroyd's first-half strike sealed Wolves' win and McCarthy added: "It was a great finish and a great performance all round by Jay.
"He has a lot of confidence and you need players like that to be able to handle playing here.
"Before Carl was sent off he and Jay looked like they were forming a really good partnership."
Jim Magilton "I am seething. It was not good enough. We didn't do enough and didn't keep the ball moving how we told them we wanted them to at half time.
"There is a lot more hard work to be done and we have to all roll our sleeves up.
"We have to improve in every area of the park. It is not good enough for me and it should not be good enough for the players who have the honour of wearing that shirt.
"As a collective unit it was poor but we are all in this together and will stick together."
