The former Wigan and Crewe player was forced off in the second half of Town's weekend win against Chesterfield in the Third round of the FA Cup, having previously missed games against Birmingham and Derby due to the same problem.
Confirming the good news, Town Physio Matt Byard told the Official Club Website: "David had a scan on Monday and there is no evidence of a muscle tear. He does have some inflammation there though and we will be cautious with him this week.
"Hopefully it will settle down over the next few days and then we will take it from there but it will be one step at a time with his recovery.
"Hamstring injuries always provide a degree of caution and I would not want to put a definite date for David's return but looking at it at the moment, it could be a couple of weeks."
