Keane said: "The lack of goals was the single biggest disappointment for me.
"I have a player I have identified as someone I feel could do a good job for us and is a realistic target."
A goalkeeper is also high on the agenda for Keane who released 32-year-old Richard Wright in April.
"That's another area we have to get right," he said.
"We used five goalkeepers last season and you're not going to get anywhere when you use those numbers."
Brian Murphy, 27, and Arran Lee-Barrett, 26, played in goal 31 times between them this term with 18-year-old Ian McLoughlin - the only other goalkeeper on the Portman road books - yet to make a first team appearance.
Meanwhile 23-year-old striker Tamas Priskin has been named in the Hungary squad for their friendlies with Germany and Holland on 29 May and 5 June respectively.
