Speaking to the Official Club Website Magilton said: "Jon deserved his goal and we deserved the points,
"We looked dangerous when we went forward and the two lads in the middle at the back were outstanding, It was Jason De Vos' sort of game. He's a warrior and dealt well with the aerial threat that Scowie and Shefki carry.
"I was delighted that Jon got the goal. He has been outstanding for us since pre-season. The lads love him, he gives 110 per cent and has been a big asset for us.
"I also thought the fans were great as well. They created a terrific atmosphere and we need to make sure we keep producing the results and performances to maintain that."
Speaking of the decision to award Palace keeper Julian Speroni just a yellow for a handball outside the box Magilton added: "I have not seen the incident on video but it looked suspicious.
"I don't think the assistant helped the referee much but if it was deliberate handball, then it could have been a red card."
Meanwhile Palace boss Peter Taylor felt his side deserved a draw; "I don't think before they scored the goal in the second half they were ever going to score.
"The effort and everything else was good, it wasn't a great performance from us and I know we can do better but it wasn't also the worst and a draw I thought was about right.
"They had lots of good football away from our goal but I didn't think they were really going to create that much."
