It is not too late for Ipswich Town to win promotion from Nationwide Division One according to Watford boss Ray Lewington, who watched his side slip to a 2-0 home defeat to the Tractor Boys on Sunday.
Lewington tipped Ipswich to go up before a ball was kicked this season and sees no reason to change his mind.
"I told the players at the start of the season that if we were to be beaten let's make sure the other team have had to play really well," he said after the match.
"Ipswich did that and they had that quality about them and I'd say they are still the best team we've played this season and that includes Portsmouth and also Leicester who play a different game." Watford were limited to just one off target shot for the first 75 minutes of this game and while the visitors were not exactly prolific with their goal attempts they were two goals to the good by then.
Watford, unbeaten at home this season before the game, struggled for long periods and Ipswich went closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half as efforts by Alun Armstrong, Jim Magilton and Fabian Wilnis all went close.
Early in the second half the visitors piled on the pressure and after Hermann Hreidarsson broke down the left, Darren Bent set up Armstrong who fired in an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area.
Five minutes later the visitors were firmly in the driving seat when Hreidarsson again helped to create the opening that saw Jamie Clapham ease pass the slipping Marcus Gayle and slot the ball beyond Alec Chamberlain
