Tractor Boys boss Joe Royle said after the game: "It is an old cliche, but goals change games. Our keeper has not had a save to make, yet he has picked the ball out of the net four times.
"Don't get me wrong, we weren't fantastic, but there was little to choose between the teams in between the goals. There was little in it. We passed the ball well, but didn't really look a goal threat."
Meanwhile Preston boss Billy Davies added: "The performance was more than we have had in the past. It was a very important three points. The players are settling in nicely.
"We are looking to getting past the transfer window, so no-one can come in for our players, but we are still looking to bring a couple of players in.
"We weathered the storm in the first half. Ipswich are a good passing side, but we came through that period well and thoroughly deserved our win."
