Town's 1-1 draw at Brighton means they will be facing the Hammers again in the play-off semi-finals, just as they did last season when they lost narrowly on aggregate.
Speaking of the prospects of the rematch, Joe Royle said after the game: "You want players who can handle big occasions. Maybe one or two of our kids were thrown into the semi-finals last year but they will be that much stronger this year for the experience.
"My views of the play-offs are well chronicled but the moment the whistle blew at the end of the game I became a fan of them. Nobody will be more positive than me. We are in the semi-final and hopefully we won't have the same officials."
Meanwhile Brighton boss Mark McGhee was delighted that his side were staying up: "The most satisfying thing is that we got the result we needed ourselves. It has been a tremendous effort over the whole season."
