Town boss Joe Royle felt the result was fair: "I can't argue with the result. Over 90 minutes they were stronger and at times it was men against boys.
"I have a striking problem at the moment but I am going to have to address that with the personnel that I already have."
Meanwhile Blades manager Neil Warnock said: "The first half was as good as we have played this season. Steve Kabba gave us a good start and we deserved the result.
"I have never had money to spend before and it's great to bring in players like Neil Shipperley, Craig Short and David Unsworth because they have given us a strong squad and the lads are playing with a smile on their faces"
