3,268 turned out at Portman Road to see the U18s cruise to victory over local rivals Norwich. A Billy Clarke goal in the second minute was enough to seal it but it could have been a lot more.
The U19 international Clarke had other chances to put the game beyond doubt but Town were comfortable winners.
Danny Haynes was the only member of the team who had first team experience. Ed Upson, who scored the memorable winner that clinched the FA Youth Cup was brought on with 35 minutes remaining.
Robert Eagle (released by Ipswich) was the star for Norwich's youngsters, though his side were unbable to really test the Town rearguard, which was well marshalled by skipper Chris Casement.
Earlier in the day, the U16s were also victourious over the neighbours up the A140, they ran out 3-2 winners with Reason, Rhodes and Ainsley on the scroesheet.
